MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 Feb 21 Observer(s): Lepine, Zurek Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: Mk III spectrograph Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the summary for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: We have tried to fix the focus problem on the spectrograph reported yesterday. We measured line widths in a Ne arc for different settings of the spectrograph focus and tilt values. We found a satisfactory setting to be focus=3748 tilt=0, giving a relatively uniform focus along dispersion. The instrument previously was at focus=3918 tilt=25. We will experiment again next afternoon. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Feb 22 [6:40:00]
