MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 Jun 05 Observer(s): Jules Halpern Institution(s): Columbia U. Instrument: Echelle CCD Direct Worked for 5.0 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the summary for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Telescope pointing was off by a few degrees at the beginning of the night. Not sure why. Had to reset using the tilt meters. After that, I did a complete pointing map using the procedure documented by John Thorstensen. I obtained 92 points, and will give the data to John for reduction using the TPOINT software. My impression is that there are significant pointing errors at present. When I tried to start science observations, I noticed that the telescope wasn't autoguiding. After much investigation, detailed in a separate trouble report, I am giving up and taking the opportunity to get an extra hour or two of sleep. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Jun 6 [3:22:26]
