MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 Jun 29 Observer(s): Jules Halpern Institution(s): Columbia U. Instrument: Nellie Direct Worked for 7.5 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.9 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.9 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Most of the night was spent searching a large area for a gamma-ray burst that was positioned toady by HETE and other spacecraft. Poor seeing and proximity to the moon hampered the effort. One more night will be needed for comparison. So far, we only found an asteroid. Dense armies of lady bugs continue to invade the equipment. Dome encoder worked well tonight after a thorough cleaning by Tony. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Jun 30 [3:38:59]
