MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 May 30 Observer(s): Jules Halpern Institution(s): Columbia U. Instrument: Echelle CCD Direct Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the summary for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2.8 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Observed all night, mostly variable stars and NGC 6791. Medium cirrus at the beginning of the night gave way to clear skys in the second half of the night. Light winds near the end caused the telescope to shake for a while. At one point, when observing in the southeast at airmass 1.65, the 4 filter wheel refused to turn. Had to slew to zenith and re-initialize the MIS. It might be useful to check this out during the day by moving the telescope to various extreme positions and seeing if the wheel will turn. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 May 31 [5:27:20]
