MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2002 May 18

Worked for 6 hours (last half of the night)
Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night.
Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details.

Seeing and Weather:
   Beg: Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable
   Mid: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate
   End: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate

Observing Summary:

PSF elongation in EW at moderate airmass (disappears at low airmass).  See trouble report, but persists when guider off.

Also, error in reading CCD.  Received:

ccd_aread: wrong aio finished; expected 0.  This is bad.
*** Error encountered in asynchronous read: data suspect
Failed, return code = 0, elapsed = 1.228000

quit CCDCOM, restarted CCDCOM, sync command, and ut init command.
bias and later images look fine.  It seems this happens out of the blue
at least once an obsering run, so I am not too concerned with this one.

This was not recorded on trouble report as we submitted one with EW jiggle then found we could not submit another report.
