MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 Apr 10 Observer(s): Garmany, Bio2 students Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: direct + Nellie Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 2.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 2.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: At the start of the night we found the TCS monitor (Dell) had crashed at 7:30 that morning. Bob talked us through the reboot. Subsequently it took a while to sync the telescope first on the zenith , then a star. For a number of tries, the xtcs3 window would not allow us to enter the epoch along with RA and dec. Again, a call to Bob resulted in his trying it from his end which got it working. Uneventful observing until 3 PM when we encountered the problem described by the previous observers: the guide star repeatedly drifted out of the box (telescope going north) Location was HA +1 h, Dec +2 deg. When we moved to another part of the sky the auto guider worked fine. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 Apr 11 [4:40:01]
