MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 Oct 02 Observer(s): Crotts + 4 students Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: Echelle Direct Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds High Observing Summary: For the first four hours of the night, we had a single cloud forming in situ over the southwest ridge (I call this the Bftsplyk effect, for those who remember Al Capp), which blocked observation of objects within about 45 degrees of the zenith. Later the wind picked up and blew it away. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 Oct 3 [6:53:29] NOTE: This report replaces the previous 1.3m telescope observing report for 2003 Oct 02
