MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 Oct 30 Observer(s): Bureau, Kamphuis Institution(s): Columbia, Groningen Instrument: Echelle, f/7.6 Direct Imaging Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds High Mid: Seeing 2.1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds High End: Seeing 2.1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds High Observing Summary: We continued our optical imaging program of the Sauron early-type galaxies. Although we could observe all night, constant cirrus obliged us to increase our exposure times by typically 50%. Furthermore, high winds (20-30 mph) led to poor seeing and prevented us from pointing against the wind, where by bad luck all our objects were located. This obliged us to follow only rising and setting objects for short periods of time. All in all another rather disappointing night, with much low quality data obtained. * The new focus button works great! Thanks! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 Oct 31 [5:21:33]
