MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 Sep 27 Observer(s): Bentz Institution(s): OSU Instrument: Templeton Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.5? arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The shutter appeared to get stuck at about 12am. It wouldn't close all the way, so when the detector was reading out, it was still exposing, causing the stars to bleed in one direction. I spent a bunch of time trying to figure it out, and with the help of Arlin Crotts, discovered what was wrong. I kept observing and just took a bias to go with each image, so that hopefully I can subtract out the smearing. I'm not sure how this will affect the quality of the data though. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 Sep 28 [6:13:54]
