MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2004 Feb 19 Observer(s): M. Bureau, M. Damen Institution(s): Columbia University Instrument: Direct imaging with Echelle Worked for 1 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Overcast, Winds Calm End: Overcast, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The sky at the beginning of the night was covered with scattered mostly thin cirrus but we were able to observe for about an hour in moderate seeing (2 ) and transparency conditions. However, the sky covered with thick and rather uniform cirrus afterward and it remained so until the end, preventing further observing. We therefore waited for a break all night, to no avail... We had problems transfering files from the data disk on tambora to disks on hill, or even to other directories on tambora itself. The cp process often hanged and could not be killed (so expect many such process to remain!). This pretty much prevented us from working on the data and is thus a real nuisance. Is this a known problem? Any cure? ------------------------------ Submitted on 2004 Feb 20 [6:25:17]
