MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2004 Oct 16 Observer(s): Dirk Grupe, Ryan Biesemeyer Institution(s): OSU + Univ. of Oklahoma Instrument: Direct + Templeton Worked for 7 hours (first half of the night) Bad weather most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Very bad weather from 02:20 until end. Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds High End: Fog/Low Clouds, Winds High Observing Summary: Pretty lousy night again. We had pretty thick clouds at the beginning of the night, but it became clearer later, especially around midnight. From around 23:00 we got high winds of around 20-30 Mph, so we raised the Dome dropout to minimize the opening of the dome slit and closed the dome doors. This kept the telescope protected from too much wind. Unfortunately at around 02:00 the humidity got 85%. After checking with a flashlight for fog, we closed the dome at 02:20. Still not a completely wasted night. We got one obhject in the beginning of the night and our main target for two rounds of UBVI imaging. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2004 Oct 17 [5:16:59]
