MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2005 Apr 12 Observer(s): Martin Bureau, Bettina Gerken Institution(s): Oxford University Instrument: Direct Imaging, f/7.6, echelle Worked for 7:30 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Continuation of an optical imaging follow-up of the Sauron sample of early-type galaxies. The sky was covered with fairly thick cirrus most of the night, with a seeing almost always around 1.5-2.0 . The very beginning and end of the night were slightly better, but we struggled all night to find and conserve guide stars through the clouds. Obviously, although we worked all night on and off, we had to integrate forever on a few targets, and even then I doubt that the data obtained are sufficient. We'll probably have to redo all objects observed tonight to get decent S/N. Fortunately, our CCD problem of yesterday did not occur again, so we did not waist any time due to technical problems. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Apr 13 [5:43:43]
