MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2005 Apr 17 Observer(s): Martin Bureau, Bettina Gerken Institution(s): Oxford University Instrument: Direct Imaging, f/7.6, echelle Worked for 09:30 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 2.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Continuation of an optical imaging follow-up of the Sauron sample of early-type galaxies. Tonight was again essentially perfect, photometric from beginning to end, but unfortunately gusty wind during the last 2/3 of the night resulted in many trailed images. Even though the wind speed was not very high, we had no freedom to select our targets and so much of the data we got is marginal. For the same reason, we also never got really decent seeing. Tonight was extra data though, so not too much harm done... No technical problem to report tonight, and many thanks to Bob, Paul and Tony for their support this week. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Apr 18 [4:31:29]
