MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2005 Nov 04 Observer(s): Martin Bureau , Anne-Marie Weijmans Institution(s): Oxford University, Leiden Univer Instrument: Direct Imaging, f/7.6, echelle Worked for 10:30 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Continuation of an optical imaging follow-up of the Sauron survey of early-type galaxies. The whole night was cloud free and photometric, with seeing hovering around 1.5 all night, with small periods of better or worse seeing. We completed our long exposures on the Sauron sample and even had time for a few extras . We also monitored a number of variable sources for Arlin Crotts: 5 AGNs and SN2005ew in VRI. We had no major technical problem, although a couple of exposures showed mild symptoms of the bias problems we experienced two days ago, i.e. large sections of rows with mildly different bias levels (051104_027, 051104_066). Since the offsets were now quite small (and rare), it is not a major worry. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Nov 5 [7:22:19]
