MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2005 Nov 05 Observer(s): Martin Bureau , Anne-Marie Weijmans Institution(s): Oxford University, Leiden Univ. Instrument: Direct Imaging, f/7.6, echelle Worked for 10:30 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Continuation of an optical imaging follow-up of the Sauron survey of early-type galaxies. The whole night was cloud free and photometric, although a few small clouds appeared on the horizon from time to time in the second half of the night. The seeing varied from 1.5 to 2.0 during the first half of the night, but it was almost constant at 1.5 during the second half. We obtained R+Halpha images of a few key Sauron objects and had another look at SN2005ew for Arlin Crotts. We had no major technical problem, although again a few exposures showed mild symptoms of the bias problems we experienced previously, i.e. large sections of rows with mildly different bias levels (051105_007, 009, 021, 037, 038). Since the offsets were quite small (and rare), it is not a major worry. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Nov 6 [7:05:41]
