MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2005 Nov 06 Observer(s): Martin Bureau , Anne-Marie Weijmans Institution(s): Oxford University, Leiden Univ. Instrument: Direct Imaging, f/7.6, echelle Worked for 9 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Continuation of an optical imaging follow-up of the Sauron survey of early-type galaxies. The first half of the night was partially cloudy, with scattered cirrus, and we did work and integrate (forever) on a couple of objects... Not many photons though! The clouds were simply too thick in the second half of the night and we could not achieve much. The seeing was 1.5-1.7 when we did get decent exposures. We again followed SN2005ew for Arlin Crotts. We had no technical problem. Especially, no problem with the bias level. This is thus the last night of our last run for this project, which in the end lasted 40 nights, both a testimony to the amount of data acquired and unfortunately to our poor weather statistics. This most likely is also the last MDM run for me, so I would like to sincerely thank all the local staff for their support (Bob, Tony, Paul), and of course everybody in the consortium who makes observing at MDM possible. This is a project that would have been hard to carry out until the end in most observatories... Special thanks to Columbia as well for continuing to support the project after my departure. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Nov 7 [7:20:43]
