MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 Aug 29 Observer(s): Kunder Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: Templeton Worked for 3 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 18 until 19:30. Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The telescope accidently ran into the metal pole at the North of the dome. I tried to push the 7o SLEW and SLEW OVERRIDE buttons together with the correct direction button to get the telescope back to near the zenith. But this did not work. I tried using the paddle to move the telescope, and then the dome button on the paddle got stuck, and the dome moved around and around and around. Prof. Thorstensen on the 2.4 m came to help out, but he was also at a loss for what to do with the telescope. So I had to shut down at mid-night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Aug 29 [23:59:51]
