MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 Feb 10 Observer(s): Bentz and Denney Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: We had a nice quiet night with great weather. We took spectra of 3C120, NGC3227, and NGC4593 for our program, each at three grating settings. At the end of the night, we had a little time left, so we got 25 minutes of data from SN2006X in the 4700-6200 A range. Since we can't rotate the slit, there is a fairly bright star right next to the slit, which hopefully didn't leak into the slit too much. The SN is still fairly faint, so the data are very noisy. Hopefully there will be something interesting there. If we have time at the end of the evening tomorrow, we will try again. Maybe it will have brightened up a little. None of the problems from last night or this afternoon occurred again. The only minor glitch was that the finder mirror didn't move out of the beam once when I flipped the switch to the out position. So I put the switch back to the in position, waited a bit, then put it back to out . That time, the mirror moved. We watched the first 1/4 of Friends, Season 5. We plan to continue this progress tomorrow, as long as all is going well. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Feb 11 [6:21:20]
