MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 Feb 11 Observer(s): Denney and Bentz Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: We had a fairly quiet evening. The seeing deteriorated throughout the night, but we were still getting a good amount of light down the slit. We obtained spectra of Akn120, NGC4051, and IC4329A at three grating positions. We also managed to get 15 minutes at each setting for SN2006X, this time with the correct object in the slit. Unfortunately, the seeing was pretty bad while observing the supernova, so the spectra are lower S/N than they could have been. We had one glitch in Prospero tonight. Details follow: pr> center 5450 setting central wavelength ... E> DONE: GratTilt=51832 Error: Requested Operation Timed Out CENTER command aborted with errors Usage: CENTER n Execution error in Prospero command Command: center 5450 After receiving these messages, I then issued the same command again, and that time the grating recentered. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Feb 12 [6:10:51]
