MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 Jan 11 Observer(s): Sheets Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Mark III + Templeton Worked for 13 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Clear, Winds Moderate End: Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: pointing was once again difficult. i had to set to zenith twice and then set to the nearest bright star before being able to find anything this evening. i found point13m then as well, which made finding things much easier. the wind picked up, so i couldn't observe to the west, power dropped out for a fraction of a second, so i lost control of the telescope, and had to restart it. on the mouse front, i do believe there is relatively new mouse poo on the counter in the kitchen. i haven't actually seen the mouse yet though. the troubles i'm reporting are that the north button on the paddle in the control room isn't responding well, and the dec coordinates very briefly flashed an obviously wrong dec at me while i was locating a target. neither was terribly hampering, but the north button is getting annoying. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Jan 12 [7:16:53]
