MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 May 24 Observer(s): armstrong, piscionere, shulman Institution(s): columbia Instrument: templeton/direct Worked for 8.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: A couple time series on CV's: SDSS 1507+52 and DQ Her, and some long exposures on an M-giant long-period CV that *might* be the optical counterpart to the transient pulsar XTE J1829-098. Perfect night. An M-giant star says hello With R-mag twenty-one or below. It'd be great if we knew What it looked like in blue; Blue'd be way way too faint for us, though. That's too bad, for you might be aware That a pulsar lies also near there. Now, are they entwined? That would be a real find, For M-giant XB's are quite rare. Blue info'd be good for this reason: It might tell us of CO accretion. Alas, no one's gaining By my trite complaining. So I'll stop and await night's completion. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 May 25 [4:12:51]
