MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2006 Nov 03 Observer(s): Eastman Institution(s): OSU Instrument: 4K Worked for 12 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: I observed WASP-1 (a transiting planet) through thick cirrus during the first half of the night. At that point, I was struggling to find anything that wasn't blasted by the moon... so I made a 4 image mosaic of the moon (Bruce was complaining that the crab didn't show off 4K's wide field of view), with the dome occulting the telescope to keep it from saturating. It worked surprisingly well. Then I tried in vein once more to observe supernovae by the moon, then I moved on to the horsehead nebula (we've got all kinds of good PR images now). Then I succeeded in getting photometry of a SN and a quasar. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2006 Nov 4 [6:14:35]
