MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Dec 14 Observer(s): armstrong / eastman Institution(s): Columbia / Ohio State Instrument: 4K Worked for 13 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: EVE ARMSTRONG'S PART (observed from dusk -> 2am) Opened on time and got three great time series. Sky stayed clear; humidity low all night. The mouse froze on me around 23:00 and I had to unplug mcgraw and start things up again from there. At LST 5:00, as I was guiding, the telescope jumped about a minute East; lost guide star of course. HA 2:58 RA 2:0 D -9:26. Startled me. And as I was already at 2 airmasses at the start, I considered aborting the run. But I stuck with it without incident to 2.5 airmasses (30-minute run.) Jason'll take over from here ... My transit observations went off quite smoothly. The only problem I had was with the seeing, which kept improving throughout the night, despite my efforts with the heater. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Dec 15 [6:42:13]
