MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Dec 20 Observer(s): armstrong Institution(s): columbia Instrument: templeton Worked for 6 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: At start of night, at console in dome: turned power on and hit start , and a high-pitched beeping started. Called Bob, who suggested I lower the platform - but it was already down. Then he directed me to open the grey box by the N pier, and flip a switch on the right side about 2 feet from the ground. That turned off the beep. Taking a long time series right now but will close around midnight to get some sleep before driving down in the morning. Seeing at the start of the night was phenomenal! Near sub-arcsecond. I *rarely* see that on the 1.3m. Thank you Bob, Paul, Tony, and Steve - for all your work, and Happy Non-denominational Holiday! (I'll be back late on the 27th.) ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Dec 20 [23:10:21]
