MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Jan 07 Observer(s): eve armstrong Institution(s): columbia Instrument: templeton/direct Worked for 13.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The night’s dark (moon’s got inhibitions) And calm (wind has lost ammunition) The filter wheel’s straight. As hours draws late, No hint of unpleasant conditions. How tedious, writing this verse: I can’t find a problem to curse! Things go well today, So I’ve nothing to say … How ‘bout looking back on what was worse? Let’s see now .. not three days ago, The moon blazed a firey glow. Stars drowned as it glared, And the guider got scared. What a pest was that lunar ego. Now, the night before that was delayed By blank images Iraf displayed. Fixin’ that was a job; I gave up and called Bob .. Well, the filter wheel’d got bored and strayed. Last night, mighty winds made a stir, Whipping V Tauri into a blur, Whistlin’ and sighin’ And screamin’ and cryin’, And at dawn dying down to a purr. But tonight there ain’t nothin’ awry ‘Neath this quiet and black pristine sky. Oh how dreadfully boring; It’s near got me snoring. But these data look nice to my eye! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Jan 8 [5:09:08]
