MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 Jan 25 Observer(s): Ann Kapusta and Chris Peters Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Mark III + Templeton Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 20:30 until 22:30. Beg: Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: At the start of the night, things weren't looking too wonderful. Clouds moved in early on and we weren't able to collect any data between 20:30 and 22:30. However, things cleared up around midnight and conditions were very good for the rest of the night. We ran into a technical difficulty at the very beginning of the night that caused us a delay in the start of the night. We found (upon taking our initial flux star calibrations) that the camera was missaligned in the slit. The slit we were using on the guider was not the same slit that the camera was set to. We eventually figured out how to correlate the camera with the correct slit, and after that things seemed to work smoothly for the rest of the night. Overall, a good first night back. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 Jan 26 [7:18:19]
