MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2007 May 18 Observer(s): Atlee Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Got all seven targets with three exposures each and two standard stars with two exposures each. Last exposure of final target pushed into twilight quite hard. Had difficulty getting the telescope's pointing set correctly at the beginning of the night, costing approximately 40 min of observing time. Eventually had to use 4th mag bright star to set pointing and move forward. Reset CCDS Acquisition Camera temperature, according to camera manual, to -10 C. The higher temperature introduces more dark counts and makes measurements of seeing more difficult in long exposures. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2007 May 19 [5:02:16]
