MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 Apr 01 Observer(s): Denney & Watson Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable End: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Tonight was a pretty lousy night. I don't think any of the observations we took were actually science quality, but we felt bad not opening at all because we could see some stars. We just decided to sit on a couple objects for a really long time, not that it did us much good - we kept losing guiding, and really didn't end up with much. Finally decided it was a lost cause and closed at about 4am. We did encounter the same problem with CCDOPS, in that it locked up, and we had to cycle power on the CCD and restart the computer because otherwise the software wouldn't close itself. We also had a minor problem with communication between the IC and CCDS that was quickly solved by typing 'seqinit' on the IC keyboard. (This all located in trouble report as well.) Once I get back to OSU, I'll talk to Rick Pogge and possibly Jen Marshall to see if they have any ideas about the Acquisition Camera issues we've been having. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Apr 2 [4:27:36]
