MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 Jan 17 Observer(s): Denney & Grier Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The weather was great tonight, and we were able to observe all night. We had unresolved issues with CCDS from last night, but observed anyway. We're just missing a couple hundred columns of readout from the chip, but the rest of the chip seems to be unaffected, so we took observations anyway. We were observing 3 grating settings across optical wavelengths from ~3500-7000A, and hopefully our overlap regions are large enough that we'll really only suffer at red end. We actually had to change one of our grating centers because H_alpha was chopped off in one object. Despite these difficulties, we observed all three grating settings of PG1411 and Mrk110, and one grating setting of PG0026, plus standard stars. We had some issues with the Ne lamp - details in trouble report. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Jan 18 [6:26:30]
