MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 Jan 18 Observer(s): Denney & Grier Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Tonight went very smoothly. We showed Dick Treffers how we open and operate the telescope and dome when we opened up tonight. Then we finished observing the green and red settings of PG0026. We were lacking objects in the middle of the night, so we just looked at the Hbeta region of Akn120 and Mrk79 for the hell of it. We then observed all three grating settings of PG1229, and tried to get the Hbeta region of MCG 6-30-15, but it appears to be too faint for this telescope (V=15.6), and even 1200s exposures didn't show much of anything (especially through the cirrus we had for a good part of the night). Oh, I did get some cool pictures with my digital camera of the cloud formations outside, illuminated by the moon and shadowing Orion! Overall, good and uneventful night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Jan 19 [6:33:38]
