MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 Mar 15 Observer(s): Kunder Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Echelle Worked for 7 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Overcast, Winds High Mid: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds High End: Seeing 3.0 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds High Observing Summary: The night started off cloudy and cleared up about 2.5 hours after sunset. Seeing was very good after the clouds cleared, but then became variable. Thick clouds rolled in 3 hours before sunrise. The clouds diminished 1.5 hours before sunrise, but the seeing was not very good. I still observed through the light cirrus. The wind was very strong, and made howling noises many times during the night. The wind chill combined with the night's cold temperature made me put on multiple layers of clothing since I spend so much time in the dome slewing the telescope. A handful of my images were stricken with wind shake. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Mar 16 [6:17:58]
