MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 May 07

Worked for 7 hours (most of the night)
Conditions were Mixed most of the night.
Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details.

Seeing and Weather:
   Clouds from 3:00 until 5:00.
   Beg: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate
   Mid: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate
   End: Seeing 2.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate

Observing Summary:

Last night I completed the scheduled transit observation as well
as abbreviated runs of two CV.

The transit observation was interrupted for an hour near the end
of the scheduled period when the power failed, requiring
a restart of the computer system and the telescope.  The most
time consuming aspect of this restart was resetting the RA/Dec
encoders of the telescope, which were scrambled when power was
lost.

I also lost two hours at the end of the night due to encroaching
cloud cover, as I was unsure whether the clouds might bring
rain.
