MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observer's Report for 2008 Oct 27 Observer(s): Denney Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: It was a slow start since I was learning the new automated system on the 1.3m, but I had no major problems and was able to observe the whole night. For the first time observing with the 'new' CCDS, I found the best focus for the 350l/mm grating at ~875 for the telescope and 985 for the collimator. Zeroth order for the grating was at a gratTilt of about 56800 steps. The only problems I had were at one point during the night, the telescope was convinced it wasn't safe to go to my target so it gave me a point east limit error message. Also, I got a mirror cover error. Neither were a big deal, and details are in the trouble report. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2008 Oct 28 [6:07:43]
