MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 Jan 29 Observer(s): Tom Brink Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: 4K Worked for 9 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Winds all night. Beg: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds High End: Patchy Clouds, Winds High Observing Summary: Beginning and middle of the right were very good. Winds of 20-25 mph (gusts ~30-35 mph) made it impossible to acquire usable data during the final 4 hours due to wind shake. Unfortunately this was true at all pointings/azimuths, not just when pointed towards the wind. When guiding, the command tx paddle gain=0.02 no longer seems to work. The guide star quickly jumps out of the box. Setting the gain to 0.01 works however. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 Jan 30 [7:39:38]
