MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 Jun 27 Observer(s): John Tobin Institution(s): Michigan Instrument: 4K Worked for 4.0 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: No storms tonight but the sky was quite cloudy until about 10pm, by ~11:30pm it was clear enough to observe. I managed to get some decent data for the Trifid nebula, though there was still interrmittent cloud cover during the observations and around 1:30am it got cloudy again. I waited for awhile but closed up at 2:30am. The guider has functioned quite well during my run, I have not experienced the N-S jumping that has been frequently reported. My guider parameters are integration time 1.0 seconds, ra and dec guide rates of 4.0 (default is 2.0). Though, I can't say that my limited amount of open time has fully experience all the possible triggers of the problem. I have spent most of my observing time pointed south at -23 degrees declination with low hour angles, always less than +/-2 hrs. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 Jun 28 [3:25:18]
