MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 Mar 09 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Templeton direct Worked for 4 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 10PM until end. Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds High Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate End: Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Time in parallel with the 2.4m. The night started well, but cirrus moved in after a couple of hours, and it got heavier as time went on. I couldn't find guide stars when I switched targets around 1 AM, so I closed. The HA drive did start chattering when I turned on the power, but I stopped it fairly quickly. The guide star selector program invoked by skycalc doesn't seem to work for the 1.3m TCS -- it runs, but doesn't correspond to reality. In starting to diagnose this I looked at the 1.3m manual on the web, and I think that the diagram of the field of regard of the MIS on the web-based 1.3 manual may be for the 2.4m system. But at this point I'm so tired I may have it wrong! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 Mar 10 [5:48:59]
