MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 Mar 11 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: templeton + buckeye fw Worked for 8 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 10 pm until 1 am. Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Clear at the start and end, and high clouds in the middle. Did timeseries work unattended. In the middle, when the weather was poor, I experimented with the 1.3m offset guide probe to be sure I had the scale right; it's close to 0.08397 arcsec per motor step, quite different from the 1.3m manual. As a guess, this number has 2.5 actual sig figs. Drive chattered for a half-second on evening startup, and I didn't see any clear evidence of preload issues this evening, but I wasn't watching closely. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 Mar 12 [6:54:37]
