MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 May 23 Observer(s): Feiden Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: OSU 4k Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 00:30 until 03:00. Beg: Seeing 0.9 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Great start to the night. The weather predictions gradually got better over the past few days and the clouds parted wonderfully for the first part of the night. After about 12:30a the clouds rolled back in and every hole was soon followed by a well placed cloud. Around 3a the clouds finally gave way again, just in time to get a few more decent images before twilight. I was also plagued by steady winds during the night. No matter where I was imaging, the winds seemed to follow. The 1.3m has a reputation for swaying when you exhale and held to it this night. I have many stars that have grown tails! No problems this night. There was a power failure around 5:30ish but all was well aside from the fact that the coffee maker and microwave are flashing 12:00. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2009 May 24 [6:00:25]
