MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2009 Sep 02 Observer(s): Terndrup, Parks Institution(s): OSU Instrument: 4k Worked for 8 hours (off and on through the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Overcast, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The entire night was hit or miss with clouds. When patches of clear sky were open for the clusters we were interested in, the images were generally good. Seeing hovered between 1.5 and about 2 arcseconds for the majority of the night, but got as low as 1.2 near the end of the night. The guiding worked very well when clouds allowed it to have enough counts. The only minor problem came during the very last task of the night. After filling the dewar, I attempted to remove the hose too early and split the tubing where it connects with the nitrogen tank. I cut the split part of the tubing off (after detaching from the tank) and reattached the remainder, but if it is too short, I can replace it with a longer tube tomorrow if a longer tube is available somewhere.
