MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Sep 09 Observer(s): Dietrich Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 9.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The entire night could be used and 6 targets of the current AGN monitoring campaign have been observed, as well as 3 standard stars. During the first half of the night the observations were a little trouble by the wind which caused some shaking of the telescope. The only problem this night was the auto-guider. After a few successful cycles, the guide probe started to oscillate in RA and the guide star was finally thrown out of the guide box by 10 to 15 arcsec. The target was also moved out of the slit and needed to be re-centered. This problem was present over the entire night, independent from the impact of wind. Hence, I was guiding the good old fashioned way. Since the telescope tracking was working very well and only minor corrections is RA and Dec were necessary. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Sep 10 [5:43:41]
