MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2010 Sep 30 Observer(s): Shappee Institution(s): THE Ohio State University Instrument: CCDS Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm, Heavily Patchy Observing Summary: When pointing at objects at higher hour angles westward (1.5 airmass) the telescope was unable to hold its pointing on an object. The telescope would hold on an object for a time and then all of a sudden drift off the object by ~arcmin. Also, when moving the telescope in RA, (with the paddle) a movement in the telescope in one direction was greatly exaggerated while a movement in the other direction was lessened. Weather: Beginning of the night was clear, with progressively more patchy clouds as the night went on. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2010 Oct 1 [6:12:02]
