MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Jan 16 Observer(s): Sheffield Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: MkIII/Wilbur Worked for 2 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate Mid: Cirrus, Winds Moderate End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: After opening and getting setup at the beginning of the night, the tracking was not staying enabled. I eventually restarted and the tracking (and all else) seemed to be working fine again, but I shut down early just to be sure (if it is an insidious mechanical problem with the telescope, I do not want to take any chance of exacerbating it; Bob will investigate in the morning). Also, I was planning an early shutdown anyway, as I am driving down the mountain in the morning and need sleep! Overall, an extremely successful run. The new slit-viewing camera works perfectly. Thanks to Jules and Bob for the training and assistance! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Jan 17 [2:29:00]
