MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Jan 17 Observer(s): S. Lepine Institution(s): AMNH Instrument: MkIII + Wilbur Worked for 8 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Started late on the 1.3m, after spending some time training Jackie on the 2.4m. Telescope was opened and observations started around 11pm. Resumed the spectroscopic follow-up program of bright M stars. Conditions were windy, and there was some N-S jitter in the telescope. It appears that the vacuum was lost in the dewar, probably due to filling it up late in the evening. I noticed when the chip started heating up only 7 hours after the dewar had been filled. Dewar had to be re-filled again. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Jan 18 [7:57:54]
