MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Jan 21 Observer(s): Jackie Faherty Institution(s): American Museum of Natural History Instrument: MKIII Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The observing conditions were excellent. Low humidity, calm winds, excellent seeing. The temperature of the CCD at the start of the night was ~-95 degrees but prior to opening the dome rose to ~90 degrees I filled the dewar and waited for it to stabilize. I began observing but at ~8pm (3 hours after re-filling the dewar) the temperature rose to ~-89 (the agreed temperature with Bob which I would re-fill the dewar). I did and the temperature dropped to -90. I conttinuously checked the temperature and everything seemed ok until ~4am. I noticed at ~3am that the temperature was ~-92. At 4am it had risen thirty degrees to -65 degrees. I filled the dewar again and then waited ~45 minutes for the temperature to drop to ~-90 degrees. It remained stable for the remainder of the night. It had risen to ~-82 by the end. I closed the dome at ~7am and filled the dewar. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Jan 22 [7:09:11]
