MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 Mar 31 Observer(s): Terndrup, Karnath Institution(s): NSF, OSU Instrument: CCD/Templeton Worked for 9.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: A good night all in all! At our first target (dec = +66), we experienced a lot of jiggle and sometimes large oscillations in the N/S direction. The images often look terrible, but experiments show we can recover accurate differential photometry. We were looking into a 10 mph wind. Our second target (dec = -02) gave us no problems. Good seeing, steady tracking and guiding. The guider was giving the telescope a relatively constant nudge to the N at both targets, which suggests something about the N/S balance or preload is amiss. The data from this run will be extremely good, though the extra motion problems will complicate the reduction. I want to thank Bob and Tony and Richard Treffers for their dedication and extra effort. The only casualty of the night was to the mouse population, which is reduced by at least four. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 Apr 1 [5:02:41]
