MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 May 05 Observer(s): S. Lepine Institution(s): AMNH Instrument: MkIII + Wilbur Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Could not use the guider tonight. After doing a proper focus of the spectrograph and telescope, I realized I could not bring the guider camera to focus. The focal plane seems to be out of range in the current setup (MkIII). Guided manually all night instead. Fortunately all exposures were short and the tracking was excellent most of the time, so there were only minor corrections to make. This required a bit more vigilance however. Guider would be useful for longer exposures however. Night was busy in any case, with 45 targets observed. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 May 6 [5:36:04]
