MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2011 May 29 Observer(s): Helena Uthas, Enrique de Miguel Institution(s): Columbia, CBA Spain Instrument: 4K Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Winds all night. Beg: Clear, Winds High Mid: Clear, Winds High End: Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: The night was very windy (between 30 - 40 m/h), with gusts well above the limit of 40 m/h. Due to the high winds, data was of bad quality. The stars appeared to jump in north-south direction, in about 50% of the frames. Since a north-south oscillation caused by the guider has been reported for the previous observing run, we decided to switch off the guider to see if this helped. There was not any significant difference, but we decided to leave the guider off for most of the night (there were basically no drifting). We had problem to move the telescope to several northern targets that we used to be able to observe (for instance. RA: 13/DEC:+48 and RA: 15/ DEC:+51). The telescope would not be able to go any further than about DEC:+40 for almost any northern RA. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2011 May 30 [5:05:33]
