MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Jan 11 Observer(s): Somers and McGraw Institution(s): Ohio State/Ohio Instrument: CCDS Worked for 4 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.44 arcsec, Overcast, Winds Calm End: Overcast, Winds Calm Observing Summary: There was cloud cover for much of the night, except for a hour window to which we could observe one object. When we started observing, we encountered the TCS link error when calling dostd. This error was encountered at 06:35:00 UTC. We fixed the problem by restarting the telescope and using 'telinit' then 'startup' in the terminal. jskycalc also lost connection during this error, and the easy fix was to restart jskycalc with 'ssh hill' then './runjskgs'. Pointing also fell off by a few arcminutes, but it was fixed by using the nearest bright star. Overall, the cloud cover over the entire sky prevented any observing, with the exception of NGC 3227 and Feige 34. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Jan 12 [5:22:45]
