MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Jul 20 Observer(s): Jules Halpern Institution(s): Columbia U. Instrument: Templeton Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: A very productive night, with only the slightest hint of cirrus. Today Bob installed a different CCD electronics box that delivers less pattern noise and, it is hoped, will not cause as many readout failures as the other one. So far, so good. As usual the telescope jumped in N-S a couple of times, but this didn't affect my program. One unusual incident with the dome, when it updated its position it got a bit enthusiastic and overran the telescope, completely occulting it for a few seconds, before coming back to the correct position. Again, this was not a significant issue. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Jun 21 [5:10:33]
