MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Jun 29 Observer(s): Gaidos Institution(s): Hawaii Instrument: R4K Worked for 8.0 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate End: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Storm cells far to the south kept their distance and observer rewarded with clear skies, except for some mid-level broken clouds that passed through around 1:30 AM. Light to moderate winds. No technical problems with telescope, dome or instrument. Some challenge in getting the right telescope coordinates to JSkyCalc and finding a good guide star but once done, guiding worked well. If a guide star is too close to the probe FOV, it seems that JSkyCalc's calibration (for telescope motion) freaks out. Observer treated to a beautiful trio of Pleiades, Jupiter and Venus rising before dawn. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Jun 30 [3:54:06]
